Helen Clark, former Prime Minister of New Zealand between 1999 and 2008 and now one of the eight names in the race to replace Ban Ki-Moon in the general secretariat of the UN, visited Montevideo between Thursday and Friday last week. Clark came to our country to explore support for her candidacy in meetings with the Foreign Ministry and political leaders such as former president José Mujica.

In an interview with En Perspectiva, Clark said that if she gets into office her focus will be on conflict prevention; Clark thanked Uruguay for its contribution in peacekeeping missions and referred to the current political instability in Brazil and Venezuela.
